Toyota Camry: EGR Valve Control Program
Thu, 27 April 2016
Following the announcement made by Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) in Japan on 27 April 2016, Borneo Motors Singapore (BMS) has been notified that the safety-related vehicle recall on EGR valve control program may involve select Toyota Camry model.
This is a proactive measure Toyota is taking to ensure the continued safety of our Toyota customers.
A fault was discovered in the Engine Control Unit’s (ECU) exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve control program. If the accelerator pedal is used frequently at short intervals, there is a possibility that the EGR valve cannot close properly. The engine may then fail if exhaust gas cannot be discharged normally. In the worst-case scenario, the engine may stall while driving.
Under this recall, BMS will inspect the condition in each vehicle and update the ECU’s EGR valve control program, if necessary. The remedy will be performed at no cost to vehicle owners.
At the moment, we are still pending further clarifications on the involved Toyota Camry model distributed and sold by BMS.
